Resumen
The purpose of this document is to review the adjectives, verbs and nouns that are recurrent in the definitions of Public Administration, through the review of the approaches of 68 authors and 150 definitions. The “dynamic word cloud” was used to summarize the frequency of use of words in the texts reviewed in the different periods. It is concluded that: first, in the disciplinary field, the terms “administration”, “public”, “government”, “science” and “society” have been used as the most representative terms. Second, the definitions are theoretical constructions that correspond to their historical context related to the role of the State; third, they explain the development of the State"s expansion and the administrative activities entrusted to public administration; and fourth, they are approximations for a better understanding of both the administrative subject and the scientific discipline.
