Resumen
Obesity is a very common condition in developed countries, which has increased progressively in recent decades. Both overweight and obesity have a multifactorial origin, emphasizing the influence of the environmental factor, considering that a genetically susceptible individual, placed in an environment that allows easy access to high-energy food together with a routine in which physical activity is reduced, contributes to the appearance of overweight and obesity. It is currently considered a public health problem in Mexico, with the highest prevalence worldwide, considering the economically active population of young adults the most affected (). The adverse conditions of work activity lead to individual (and social) health problems called psychosomatic diseases, among them are overweight and obesity. Therefore, it can be considered that work is a factor that can have a great impact on the quality of life of the population worldwide, so it is essential to study this factor in order to determine prevention and intervention strategies to improve the health of the population, so in this work a theoretical review of the work factors associated with overweight and obesity in adults is carried out.
