520.3.#.a: This paper reports an application of one of the numerical techniques of seismic tomography to reconstruct the seismic wave velocity distribution in the sub-surface. This study was conducted in the area of Cazones, Veracruz State (Mexico), to determine the suitability of the area for siting a power plant. The Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique (SIRT) was used. Results obtained correlate very well with geologic and geophysical well logging information.
