Resumen
The San Marcos Garden is one of the most emblematic cultural spaces in the city of Aguascalientes, which plays host to the Feria Nacional de San Marcos, thereby receiving thousands of visitors every year and establishing it as the most visited public space in the state. Despite this fact, the history of the Garden remains untold with regard to its material vestiges, since people normally focus more on the fair as a social, political and economic event of the city. Therefore, the objective of this article is to concentrate on the process of the historical and architectural transformation of the Garden and its immediate surrounding context, outlining the historical aspects from the foundation of the Villa de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de las Aguascalientes and its relationship with the Indian village of San Marcos, but without ignoring the architectural aspects that allow us to recreate and describe its conformation, design and construction, regarding the criteria of the international trends of the time.
