520.3.#.a: This paper analyses the development of the publishing industry in Monterrey through two journals, published by French editor Desiderio Lagrange: La Revista (1881), and La Revista de Monterrey (1881-1886). Lagrange was the owner of a typographic establishment in the capital of the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, during the last quarter of the 19th Century. At first, Lagrange operated a hand press, used to print weekly and biweekly literary issues; but later, in 1882, he introduced a cylindrical press (probably a steam printing press), thus releasing the first journal in the history of the state.En este artículo se analiza el desenvolvimiento del ámbito editorial regiomontano a través de dos periódicos: La Revista (1881) y La Revista de Monterrey (1881-1886). Ambas publicaciones fueron elaboradas por el editor francés Desiderio Lagrange, dueño de una tipografía que operó en la capital de Nuevo León durante el último cuarto del siglo xix. Al principio, Lagrange trabajó con una prensa manual, con la cual estampó semanarios y quincenales literarios; posteriormente, en 1882 introdujo una prensa cilíndrica (seguramente de vapor) para imprimir de manera mecanizada el primer diario en la historia del estado
