The Electronic Vote. A Perspective on its use in the world

Resumen
A fundamental element of political regimes based on representative democracy is the vote or suffrage, throughwhich citizens exercise the right to participate in or choose their representatives. This democratic exercise has also been influenced by the use of digital technologies, such as electronic voting, which is conducted through digital ballotboxes instead of traditional paper ones. Despite the advantages offered by this form of voting, such as ease, speedin counting and results, and resource savings, it has not been widely adopted worldwide, not even by countrieswith strong democratic regimes. In this regard, challenges such as security, reliability, and the digital divide arise inimplementing electronic voting in more countries. Thus, using a qualitative methodology, this work reviews in whichcountries electronic voting is present and in which ones it has been abandoned or at least subjected to review.
