520.3.#.a: This article examines how a group of practicing teachers structure their thinking style when addressing psychoactive substances as a socio-scientific issue (SSI) through the lens of science, technology, society, and environment (STSE). This study is part of a larger investigation into teacher knowledge and socio-scientific issues. The article first presents the theoretical foundation, drawing on the CTSA approach and the use of SSI as a didactic strategy. It then describes the qualitative case study conducted, and the corresponding discursive textual analysis based on Ludwin Fleck’s theory. The findings reveal that the SSI approach empowers teachers to develop a transformative thinking style, fostered through a training process at the university-school interface.
