520.3.#.a: The purpose of this article is to foster the use of historical novels and socio-politicalessays not only as complementary and interpretative elements in thesubject, but also as aspects to increase the interest in it.The necessity to think of and carry out efficient actions in the subjectEconomy and Society in the Contemporary Mexico- included in the area ofsocio-economic thinking– motivated the use of the pre-revolutionary, revolutionaryand post-revolutionary historical novels as a complement to theteaching and learning process, without overlooking the fulfillment of thesyllabus. For all the reasons stated, it was important to carry out a survey toget to know students, their motivation, interests and abilities at a personaland academic level in order to identify their current situation, and the mostappropriate and effective way in which we can work.The contribution of this action to the class will be shown with theimprovement and increase of students’ understanding of the differentprocesses, facts, and stages of the 20th century Mexico. At the same time, theyneed to relate this knowledge to the contents of the discipline in the economic,political, social, cultural, and historical field, so as to be able to write papersshowing opinion and analysis, discussion and reflection, statements and criticabout the recommended readingsThe integration of the historical novel was to the satisfaction of students;therefore, it is advisable to include it in subjects related to socio-economicsciences for being innovative, different, complementary, and critical-thinkingencouraging.El objetivo del artículo es impulsar la novela histórica y ensayo sociopolítico como unelemento no sólo complementario e interpretativo, que incremente el nivel de interéspor la asignatura. La necesidad de idear y ejecutar acciones de trabajo eficientes yfuncionales en la asignatura Economía y Sociedad del México Contemporáneo adscritaal área de pensamiento socioeconómico, motivó a experimentar como complementode enseñanza-aprendizaje a la novela histórica pre, revolucionaria y post revolucionariade México, en paralelo al cumplimiento del plan de asignatura. Por loanterior, se realizó una encuesta en tres niveles: personal, escolar y de enseñanza-aprendizaje, para conocer al estudiante, sus motivaciones, intereses y capacidades,con el objetivo de identificar su situación actual, y con ello, la acción más indicada,oportuna y efectiva de trabajo. La contribución de esta acción en clase, se tradujoen mejorar e incrementar la comprensión de los estudiantes frente al saber de losdiferentes procesos, hechos, y etapas de estudio del México del siglo XX, y vinculareste saber con los contenidos de la disciplina en el área económica, política, social,cultural e histórica, produciendo como resultado, escritos de opinión y análisis,discusión y reflexión, exposición y crítica de las lecturas recomendadas. El vínculosensibilizador de la novela histórica dio una total satisfacción a los alumnos, siendoesta experiencia, altamente recomendable para las materias afines a las cienciassocioeconómicas, por su novedad, complementariedad, diferencia y pensamientocrítico.
