These extremely valuable testimonies preserved at the Bancroft Library, attracted the interest of the late Edward H. Spicer who provided John Dedrick with a copy of them. These letters constitute one of the earliest examples of written Yaqui. What is probably the oldest available text in Yaqui has been published also in Tlalocan, V. 8, 279-288.
