520.3.#.a: Objective: To evaluate the level of knowledge of foot self-care before and after an educational intervention in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: A quasi-experimental analytical study was conducted. Sampling was convenience sampling. Patients with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus, over 18 years of age, without a history of diabetic foot or amputation for any reason were included. The “Questionnaire to Determine the Knowledge of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus about Foot Self Care” was administered before and after an educational intervention. The level of knowledge was compared using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: 213 patients participated. The median level of knowledge of foot self-care before the educational intervention was 14. After the educational intervention, the median level of foot self-care knowledge was 17, an increase in the level of self-care knowledge was observed (p= 0.000). Conclusion: The level of foot self-care knowledge of patients with type 2 diabetes increased after the educational intervention.
