520.3.#.a: Introduction: The academic performance is related with different factors. Objectives: To evaluate social and demographic factors and habits of our students and its relationship with academic performance. Material and methods: An observational, transversal work, between April and November of 2012. Students of Pathophysiology, Nutrition career, Health Sciences School, National University of Salta. A survey was done in April and in November; the information was crossed with the condition of approved of each student. Variables: Age, gender, work condition, province of origin, access to PCs, internet, email and Facebook®, sports practices, level of satisfaction with the career, taking the course for the first time, Final exam of Anatomy approved, lecture habits, participation in NGOs, economic situation, type of secondary school (private or state). These variables were studied with percentages and six variables were related with academic performance using the Fisher´s Test (p<0.05). Results: Mean age 21.5 years, 91% female, 70% came from Salta province, 23.9% worked, 80.3% has PC, 63.8% internet access at home, and 86.1% uses Facebook®. Only the 14% checks daily their emails. The 36.7% practice sports regularly, 25.5% participates NGOs. The 50.5% is “Very Satisfied” with the career, only 43.4% had read two or more books in the last year. The 50.3% approved Anatomy and 55.3% was taking the course for second time. The 52.1% perceive his personal economic situation as regular or bad. The 63.82% came from public secondary school and only the 41.48% had approved finally the course. Comparative analysis showed that those who approved Anatomy and had read two or more books were related with better academic performance. Discussion: It´s really important include social and demographics factors and students habits for the development of strategies to improve the academic performance.
