Resumen
This article analyzes the development of the Establishment of Ideological and Humanistic Studies [Establecimiento de Estudios Ideológicos y Humanísticos], founded in 1833. It argues that this new institution promoted a shift in the educational mind-set. The methodology in scales allows for the identification of the faculty, and the suggested readings, with the purpose of integrating new subjects such as Ideology and Political Economy. This educational reform highlights the interest in including Law Studies due to the shortage of lawyers throughout the country at that time. Finally, it reflects on Mexican liberalism and specific historiography beyond the discourse of José María Luis Mora. New sources are utilized, which, while heterogeneous, allowed for the reconstruction of the history of this institution.
