520.3.#.a: On July 15, 1972, a scientific and technological exchange agreement was signed between Mexico and the United States of America. Approximately four years later, on July 20, 1976, the mixed commission of both countries pointed out the need for the research and development of technologies for the use of geothermal resources to be included in said agreement. Thus, on July 21, 1977, a more specific scientific-technological cooperation agreement related to the exploration, evaluation and exploitation of geothermal fields, dominated by water, was signed.
