520.3.#.a: This article focuses on the drinking water supply system in the city of Oaxaca de Juárez at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth. It uses a historical perspective to analyze the distribution and sanitation works of this essential liquid in the state capital. This process implied changes in water distribution and led to a search for new water resources, aimed at correcting the ongoing scarcity and meeting the increasing demand for water in the city. In addition, the search for drinking water led to a conflict between the local government of Oaxaca de Juárez and that of San Agustín Etla. Este trabajo se enfoca en el sistema de abasto de agua potable a la ciudad de Oaxaca a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Analiza desde una perspectiva histórica las obras de suministro y saneamiento del vital líquido para la capital del estado. Este proceso implicó cambios en su distribución y propició la búsqueda de nuevos recursos hídricos con el afán de subsanar la continua escasez y cubrir la creciente demanda del líquido para la ciudad. Además, dio origen a un conflicto por el recurso entre el ayuntamiento de Oaxaca de Juárez y el de San Agustín Etla.
