Resumen
This article describes the digitization experience of the Universidad de Las Américas Library System (Chile) implemented to support the teaching-learning processes during the pandemic. It addresses the importance of university libraries’ digital preservation and the creation of an institutional repository. It also delineates the characteristics of the digitizing machine and the programs used. The results obtained from the statistical analysis show an increase in the amount of digitized books per year. Finally, the conclusions expose that the digitization process promoted the creation of a digital collection that supports university education, as it allows access to mandatory bibliographies of in-course subjects in digital format, offering agile and quick access to the content.
