520.3.#.a: Introduction: The professional profile is a term that is used with an imprecise meaning. It is ;used in academic discourse and constitutes an inescapable and substantive component of curricula and aspects related to the work environment. In Mexico, there is no professional profile of the family physician supported by theoretical and methodological elements and professional practice for its construction. Objective: To build a professional profile of the Mexican family doctor, by applying a production and validation strategy based on the level of consensus among academics, trainers, and union representatives. Method: A census, descriptive, quantitative-qualitative, prospective study was conducted based on the methodological proposals of four authors and the available resources for participation (academics, trainers and trade union representatives), 1 of the 4 modes was selected for the validation of the profile. A computerised self-response questionnaire was designed and applied to obtain the opinion of 71 participants in the study on the six dimensions or consensual domains that make up the professional profile of the specialist in family medicine. The questionnaire was completed through an electronic platform that was accessed by Descriptive statistics and content analysis were used to categorise the responses of each item. Results: A total of 34 (47.9%) questionnaires were completed. The quantitative summary of the terms found enabled the 10 most common words or phrases for each question to be identified. The qualitative analysis helped to identify four areas of professional performance and the traits or professional characteristics of the doctor specialising in family medicine, which were organised and drafted to build the profile of the family doctor in Mexico. Conclusions: The professional profile of the Mexican specialist in family medicine obtained in this study allows us to establish congruence between their professional characteristics, their general and specific competences, and the activities that must be developed in the different work contexts in which they perform.
