520.3.#.a: Objective analyses of the wind fields in the tropical Pacific Ocean area at 700, 500, 300 and 200 mb levels were made with the aid of a high-speed electronic computer. Use was made of pibals, rawins and aircraft·wind observations. Heights of constant pressure surfaces were not used. The objective wind analyses are compared with subjective analyses. Experimental tropical barotropic forecasts were also made and compared with conventional forecasts.
