520.3.#.a: evaluate the clinical competence of undergraduate internal physicians (uip) in Diabetes mellitus type 2 (dmt2) before and after of an educational strategy. Material and methods: a quasi-experimental study carried on from June 2008 to February 2009 in a Family Medicine Unit from Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. There were evaluated 39 uip in rotation by the Family Medicine service. The variables studied were: level of ability in dmt2 before and after an educational intervention consisting of a feedback workshop in the resolution of cases. Data were processed in the spss 17 program for Windows and Stata 10. The analysis was performed with the Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman tests. The evaluation of clinical skills included: General knowledge and identification of risk factors, classification, diagnosis and treatment of dmt2. Results: before the educational strategy the level of competence of the uip in dmt2 was very low 33 doctors (84.62%) and low with six uip (15.38%). Subsequent to the intervention was a mid-level with four uip (10.26%), low with 14 uip (35.90%) and very low 21 uip (53.85%). A statistically significant difference was found in the level of general competence of the uip in dmt2 after the intervention; the Wilcoxon test was applied with p=0.018. Conclusions: the level of clinical competence of the uip in dmt2 showed a significant progress after the educational strategy.
