Resumen
The right to political participation of adolescents is a fundamental right, which is violated even though it enjoys constitutional protection. This is due to the erroneous interpretation of the principle of the best interests of children and adolescents by the authorities responsible for the implementation of this right in decision-making spaces. In this sense, the present research, with a qualitative approach, basic type, and grounded theory design, has the general objective of determining how a correct interpretation of the principle of the best interests of children and adolescents could contribute favorably to the exercise of the right to political participation of adolescents in decision-making spaces in Lima Metropolitana. Hence, through the application of the interview, as a data collection instrument, it was obtained as a result that a guaranteeing interpretation of the principle of the best interests of children and adolescents is necessary, because currently various factors lead to its deficient interpretation, negatively impacting the exercise of the right to political participation of adolescents. Furthermore, it is concluded that a correct interpretation of the principle of the best interests of children and adolescents would contribute favorably to the exercise of the right to political participation of adolescents in decision-making spaces.
