Resumen
Based on the evocative piece “Total Destruction of the Museum of Anthropology” (Eduardo Abaroa, 2012), this essay engages with three critical readings of the institution. Seen through the work of Manuel Gamio, the first of this lines delves into the ties between anthopology and the Mexican State. The second line considers the meanings behind the museum’s exhibits’ pedagogical mechanisms. The third one explores the ways in which the museum’s architecture materializes these discourses. Rather than providing a conclusive stance with regards to the Museum, the text aims to contribute through an architectural perspective to the historiographical critique that Abaroa’s piece puts forward.
