Resumen
Overweight and obesity are considered a serious public health problem, due to comorbidity with chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, which are more prevalent in the overweight and obese population. In order to combat and reverse this health problem, certain guidelines for lifestyle modification are established, since it is considered a way of contributing to the obesity epidemic, without denying the responsibility of the social structure. Since obesity and overweight go beyond the biomedical perspective, a social approach has even been proposed to respond to the presence of this condition. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to visualize some of the explanations of the origin of overweight and obesity, to give way to the consideration of some of the proposals that have been put forward for the attention of health professionals.
