Resumen
Purpose: To compare intimate partner violence, stress, anxiety, and depression symptomatology in Mexican women by age group during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodological design: Through non-probabilistic purposive sampling, 165 women completed an online psychological battery consisting of the following instruments: a general data questionnaire, DASS-21 and a questionnaire on violence suffered and perpetrated by an intimate partner. Results: Women from 45 to 59 years of age reported suffering more intimate partner violence compared to other age ranges (K = 9.488, p = .023), while women aged 25 to 44 presented more symptoms of anxiety and depression (p < .05). The most reported type of violence was physical violence, with the 45 to 59 years of age range suffering the most (K = 10.985, p = .012). Research limitations: Due to the lack of an evaluation prior to COVID-19, it is not possible to state whether intimate partner violence, symptoms associated with stress, anxiety and depression were exacerbated by this health emergency. Findings: All women reported having experienced some type of violence from their partners, with physical violence being the most common; additionally, they experienced symptoms of at least one mood disorder, the most recurrent being stress.
